Maria Markoulli is an Associate Professor and Co-Director of Teaching at the School of Optometry & Vision Science, UNSW, Sydney. She chaired the BCLA CLEAR Presbyopia report on epidemiology and impact and co-authored its management guidance.
She also led one of the TFOS Lifestyle Reports, reviewing how nutrition affects the ocular surface, and served on sub-committees of TFOS DEWS II, DEWS III, and the Contact Lens Discomfort workshop.
As Deputy Editor of Clinical & Experimental Optometry and Academic Lead of the UNSW Dry Eye Clinic, her research bridges systemic disease, nutrition, and ocular surface health in conditions like diabetes and migraine.
